Bird's Nest Centerpiece

Its been a while since I've posted anything decor related.  With the coming of spring and Easter I saw so many other blogs featuring Egg Vignettes and I really wanted to try my hand at it too!  I scoured the Target dollar bins since I had seen some premade nests but I would have to dissassemble them and would have only gotten 3 eggs with holes in them where they were wired into the nest.  In the

Milk Glass and Sweetheart Flour Sacks

I've been wanting to get some new kitchen towels to match my Sweetheart Kitchen and I happened upon these at the thrift store last week for .50 cents each.

I believe they were still new since it felt like the sizing was still on them.

Love them!

And I also happened upon a milk glass candy dish or 2 dollars

Raggedy Ann and Andy

I've been looking for a set of Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls for years now with no success.  My heart has been set on finding the same set as when I was a kid and they are ridonkulously expensive!  This morning I took a trip to the thrift store and found these.

A close up of both~

And Mr Andy~

These aren't the ones I had as a kid.  They are hand made (

Basketweave Coffee Cups and Red Tea Towel

I was able to hit my fave thrift store on Monday and came away with a few great things.  I had MUCH more in my basket and started whittling away things the closer I got to the checkout since I've been trying to be very choosy even if something is cheap.  Just becasue something is a good price doesn't mean that I have to have it!

I picked up these 6 basketweave cups for ..39 cents each

Salad in a Jar

Have you seen the Salad in a Jar frenzy on Pinterest?    Many times I buy salad makings and then never assemble them due to time laziness and then the ingredients go bad.  I bought a head of romaine, a cucumber, some baby tomatoes and green peppers for an easy Salad in a Jar.  I plan on adding some crunchy nuts and cheese when the hubs and I eat dinner together later on.   I'd really like

My DIY 'Vintage' Rolling Pin

My rolling pin has found a home above my stove and I love it there!

When I found an older vintage one for rolling dough, my brain went to churning and I decided to add some red paint to the handles to make it look vintagey

like the old fashioned ones you see like this.

I love the splash of color!!!

Curtains for my SweetHeart Kitchen

I've been on a mission in looking for curtains for my Sweetheart Kitchen for over 2 months.

I tried WalMart, Target, and any and all stores in the area

and could find nothing that really spoke to me and that I had to have.

I finally did find something at Anna's Linens and it would have cost me over

300 bucks for the three windows in the kitchen alone!

Wayyyyy too much money for me

My "New" Red Basket

Since I decided on a red 'Sweetheart' Kitchen I knew I wanted a container for onions and fruits to sit on the counter.  I found one at Target but it was more of a salmon color and not a deep cherry red.

I found a wire white basket at the thrift store and the lightbulb went off.

I had already had some spray paint and I knew it would be a perfect substitution

at less than 1/5th of the

My Red Sweetheart Kitchen

About three weeks ago I had a burst of inspiration!   I was on Pinterest and saw this link and thought how utterly cute and perfect!  My new (to me) kitchen would fit this theme perfectly and at that very instant I knew I wanted a red Sweetheart Kitchen!  When I went to Walmart the other day I saw some red check shelf liner and knew that it would make me smile every time I opened the cabinets.
